RIKB Seminar Series: Remodeling and Accessibility Design for All Ages – May 3
May 3 @ 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm
Changes will occur over the life of your home: to its occupants, as well as the environment and its users. In this seminar, we’ll review Universal Design ideas meant to produce living spaces that are as usable as possible by as many people as possible regardless of age, ability or situation. Now more than ever, many Universal Design products are not only smart for seniors, but also for young children and those with limited mobility. When incorporated into the remodeling process, Universal Design can eliminate or reduce the need for changes in your home later in life.
Our Director of Design, Prudence Stoddard, CKD, CAPS, UDCP will discuss the principles and importance of Universal Design, while showcasing specific products and appliances that are being used today. In additon, Linda Bohmbach, ECHMP, Co-Founder and Vice President of Home HealthSmith will join us to review various types of accessibility equipment available for your living room and/or bedroom including ceiling lifts and various types of transfer aids for those with limited mobility.
Pre-registration is required, space limited. This event is complimentary, however we will be accepting donations for the Rhode Island Community Food Bank.
